(Washington CH) – A whale baleen specimen used by the Cincinnati Children’s Museum in a hands-on education program at the Fayette County Community Health Fair & Family Fun Day is missing and may have been picked up unintentionally during or after the recent public event, which took place on June 7th in Washington Court House.
This whale baleen is an irreplaceable educational tool that helps connect thousands of students each year to science, conservation, and marine life.
It is also important to note that the item is protected under the Marine Mammal Protection Act and other federal laws, making it illegal for private citizens to possess or sell.
“We are requesting its safe return, no questions asked. The item can be returned discreetly to the front desk at Fayette County Public Health.”
A reward is being offered for any information leading to its return. Anyone with information may contact Cheryl Royster at (740) 333-2945 or Sharon Gibbs at (740) 335-5910.
