Chillicothe, OH – The Ross-Chillicothe Convention & Visitors Bureau has released its 2025 Annual
Report, highlighted measurable tourism growth and increased economic impact throughout
Chillicothe and Ross County.
The report reflects that lodging tax collections increased by 4% in 2025 – a direct indicator of
overnight visitation growth. Even more significantly, trips originating from outside of Ohio rose by
6.1%, demonstrating expanded geographic reach and growing awareness of Ross County as a travel
destination. Additionally, total visitor spending increased by 4.9%, reinforcing tourism’s role as a
powerful economic driver for local businesses, restaurants, attractions, and lodging partners.
“This growth reflects the strength of our destination and the effectiveness of our strategic marketing
efforts,” stated Melody Young, Executive Director. “Tourism is not just about attracting visitors; it
directly supports local jobs, strengthens small businesses, and generates revenue for our
community.”
These achievements were largely driven by the expanded advertising campaigns and targeted
outreach efforts that also produced a 28% increase in website traffic, fueled largely by new users
discovering the destination for the first time. The Bureau’s expanded reach translated into dramatic
growth in traveler engagement. In 2025, visitor information requests surged with inquiries from all
50 states. More than 5,000 informational packets mailed to prospective visitors planning trips to
Ross County. This reflects not only increased awareness but genuine intent to travel to Chillicothe
and Ross County.
The Ross-Chillicothe Convention & Visitors Bureau is funded through lodging tax revenue generated
from hotels, bed & breakfasts, and short-term rentals throughout Ross County. Those dollars are
reinvested directly into marketing efforts designed to attract overnight visitors, ensuring tourism
promotion remains self-sustaining and economically impactful. By strategically targeting out-ofstate markets and expanding digital campaigns, the Bureau continues to broaden Ross County’s
visibility while driving measurable returns for the hospitality and tourism sector.
Building on this momentum, the Bureau will continue expanding its marketing reach and
strengthening partnerships to attract new visitors, increase overnight stays, and drive sustained
economic growth for Chillicothe and Ross County in 2026 and beyond.
