
Second Half Surge Leads Circleville Past Washington CH in Battle Of U.S. Rt 22

The Circleville Tigers scored on their first four possessions of the second half to rally from a 12-7 halftime deficit in a 35-27 victory over the Washington Blue Lions.

The Tigers adjusted to a power blocking backfield in the second half after being held to only 22 rushing yards in the first half. The change enabled them to rush for 177 yards in the game. That combined with Hudson Phalin’s 9/16 passing for another 170 yards pushed Circleville’s game total of 347 yards.
Washington’s Sam Pfeifer also had a big night, throwing 18/28 for 252 yards, but the Blue Lions running attack was stifled by Circleville’s defense as they were held to only 14 yards on the ground.
Ray Ezell of the Tigers was named the Litter Media “McDonald’s Player of the Game” as he ran for 88 yards and scored a 23 yard TD run that put the Tigers in their first lead of the second half at 14-12. Kole Nungester scored three TD’s for the Tigers.
Aden Osborne caught two TD passed for the Blue Lions for 29 and 60 yards.
The Tomlinson Insurance “Big Play of the Game” was the defensive stand the Tigers made in stopping Washington’s closing minute drive effort that could have tied the game, had the Blue Lions scored.
Circleville improves to (2-0) on the season, while Washington drops to (0-2).
