Snowfall Halts Southern Ohio in First Winter Storm of 2025

Article Presented By Classic Brands…

(UPDATED 6:30pm 1/6/25) – The first winter storm of 2025 brought much of southern Ohio to a stop Sunday night and Monday as multiple counties have been on Level 3 Snow Emergencies, which bans road travel to everyone except emergency and essential employee personnel only.

As of noon Monday, Piketon was showing 9.3 inches of snow had fallen, Chillicothe 7.9, Washington CH 7.4, and Circleville 5.4 inches.

Level 3 Snow Emergencies were still in place for the evening Monday for Ross, Pike, Pickaway, Fayette, Fairfield, Scioto, Jackson, Vinton, Hocking, and Athens counties. All area schools and government offices were closed in the Level 3 counties and most have already closed for Tuesday.

The last of the snowfall left the area late Monday afternoon, but evening and overnight winds of up to 15 to 25 miles per hour is creating drifting snow for roads.

Mostly dryer, but colder weather conditions are expected for the rest of the week, with daytime highs in the low to mid 20’s and overnight lows in single digits.
