Southern Ohio Swans celebrate winning 2023 SOABL Title

SOABL Plays Championship Series at VA Memorial Stadium This Weekend

Article presented by Hanes Total Health Care Center

It’s a big weekend for the Southern Ohio Adult Baseball League as the Rangers of Ross County face the defending champion Southern Ohio Swans Baseball Club for the 2024 title.

The fledging wood bat league plays its 16-game regular season at Ross County Park, but its second league championship series moves to VA Memorial Stadium Friday night.

Rosters for the league’s four teams consist of players over 18 years of age, but range up to 60.

SOABL Commissioner Aaron Elliott says many of the players were played in the Scioto Valley Conference and areas surrounding Chillicothe. “We have a lot of guys from Greenfield and Circleville, too. We just love the game.”

In addition to the Rangers and Swans playing in the championship series, the Chillicothe Reds Baseball Club and the Flint Tropics make up the rest of the league, which Elliott says they hope to expand the league’s members in the coming years.

Last week, The Rangers doubled up the Reds 4-2 while the Swans edged the Tropics 5-4. That set the best of three championship series, with game one Friday evening at 7:30pm at the stadium. At noon Sunday August 25th, the Reds and Tropics square off for third place, followed by game two of the series between the Rangers and Swans around 4pm. If necessary, a winner-takes-all contest will be played at 7:30pm.

Elliott says admission is free to see all the games Friday and Sunday.
