South Webster Snaps 2 Game Losing Skid With Win at Waverly

The Jeeps of South Webster got back on the winning track Friday night with a 58-46 victory at Waverly. South Webster had dropped two straight decisions following a (9-0) start. Head Coach Norm Persin, who had missed those two games due to illness, was back on the bench for moral support with Assistant Coach Ryan Fenton at the reigns.
After a 9-9 first quarter, Waverly grabbed a brief 11-9 lead early in the second quarter, only to see the Jeeps go on a 10-0 run for a lead they never relinquished.
South Webster shot 50% from the field at 20/40- including 5/10 from the arc. Waverly was 14/38- including 5/12 from the arc for 37%. The Jeeps were 13/21 at the foul line compared to the Tigers 5/13. Waverly committed 10 of their 12 turnovers in the first half. South Webster has 11 miscues for the game, but won the rebounding battle 22-19.
The Jeeps’ 6’3 senior Tyler Sommer was the Litter Media Radio “McDonald’s Player of the Game” with 21 points. 6’4 senior Jack Timothy added 19 points and 6’7 junior Eli Roberts scored 10, well below his 26 point per game average. 5’10 junior Christian White added 8 points.
Waverly was led by 5’11 senior Caden Nibert’s 18 points, 6’3 freshman Landyn Russell 10 points, 6’5 freshman Sawyer Myers 6 points, 6’4 freshman Gunnar Myers 5 points, Weston Bloss and Teagan Hurt each scored 3 points, while 6’3 senior Jake Schrader had 1 point.
South Webster improved to (1-2) in the SOC 3 Division and (10-2) overall, while Waverly dropped to (1-2/7-5).
