State Wrestling Day 3: Jackson’s Craft Repeats as 100-Pound Champion

Day three of the OHSAA State Wrestling tournament saw Jackson’s Mckennah Craft atop the podium for her third consecutive state championship. Craft took 3:38 to pin Oak Hills’ Brianne Graves.

Craft, a junior, won a title in 2022 before the OHSAA added the Girls Division. She followed the 2023 championship with an undefeated ‘24 season at 32-0.

Eighteen area wrestlers reached the podium… half of them, girls. Washington’s Lyndyn Gibbs grabbed a 4th Place finish while Waverly’s Abby Green, Sionna Sanborn of Hamilton Township, Alexis Cowan of West Union and Hamilton Township’s Audrina Pack were 5th Place finishers. Taking 6th in their weight classes were Leah Marine of Washington and Teays Valley’s Ava Miller, while Scotlyn Adams earned 7th place.

The highest placing of area boys, Chillicothe’s Cannan Smith repeated his Division-2 3rd Place performance from 2023. The 132-pound sophomore pinned Franklin’s Tucker Campbell in 3:43.

Other placers in D-2, Logan Elm’s Gavin Hoover who outscored Vinton County’s Travis Bucklew 10-5 for 7th Place in the 126 Class with Bucklew finishing 8th. Athens’ Steve Kaiser and Bloom-Carroll’s Tristan Britch placed 8th in their respective classes.

In Division-3, 6th Place finishes for Zane Pickerrell from Zane Trace and Gage Bolt from Westfall.

Lancaster’s Luke Cox placed 5th and Cole Dickerson placed 7th.

150 – 8th Place: Luke Kaiser (Athens) lost 10-2 in 7th Place match.
190 – 8th Place: Tristan Britch (Bloom-Carroll) lost by pin, 2:24 in 7th Place match.
