Swimming: Athens Sweeps DII Southeast Sectional

Athens recorded an impressive showing in the Division II Swimming Sectional at the Ohio University Aquatic Center Saturday.

In the Boys Meet, the Bulldogs won two of the three team events and three individual. The Athens Girls took the three team events and four individual events.

Chillicothe Boys and Warren Girls finished second respectively.

The DII District Meet will be split into two days at Ohio University, Friday February 16th and Saturday February 17th. Qualifiers were determined by time and posted Sunday.

The Chillicothe, Lancaster and Teays Valley Girls competed in the Division I Meet at Upper Arlington High School. The Vikings placed 8th, Cavaliers 10th and Golden Gales 11th. The D1 District Meets will also be held at Ohio University Saturday February 17th.

Lancaster and Teays Valley Boys swam in the Boys Session at Upper Arlington. The Golden Gales placed 5th and Vikings were 10th. Jack Hensley gave Lancaster a win in the 200 IM. He and Max Hensley also qualified for the District in the 100 Breast. The Golden Gales’ Will McMasters is a qualifier in the 100 Back. Teays Valley’s 200 and 400 Free Relay Teams qualified for the District as well as Vikings Dom Whittredge in the 50 Free and Ryan Rathgaber in the 100 Fly.

Four Cavaliers advanced to the Girls D1 District Meet. Sarah Johansen qualified in the 50 Free and she along with Katherine McCallum, Siri Lincke and Addison Gibson in the 200 Free Relay & 400 Free Relay. Teays Valley’s 200 Free Relay & 400 Free Relay Teams are qualifiers and as well as TV’s Lauren Arledge in the 100 Fly.
