Thomas M. Cuppett Court Dedication Set For December 13th

The Chillicothe City School District has announced Friday, December 13th, 2024 as the date naming the floor of the Ellis B. Hatton Memorial Gymnasium “Thomas M. Cuppett Court”. The recognition ceremony will take place at approximately 7:00pm at the home opener of the 2024-25 season with Hillsboro that night.
According to its news release, CCSD is “extremely excited to honor the memory of Mr. Thomas M. Cuppett family for all that Mr. Cuppett gave to the students and community of Chillicothe and especially Chillicothe High School.”
Cuppett served as head coach of the boys basketball program at Chillicothe High School from 1969-1981 and served as the Athletic Director until his retirement in 1993 serving the students and community of the Chillicothe City School District for 25 years. His basketball record was188-69 with the Cavaliers, including three league championships, ten District Tournament appearances while advancing to the Regional Tournament three times.
Cuppett’s career coaching record for basketball and football was 404-151-2.
Cuppett was inducted into the CHS Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001, the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame in 1992 and the Ohio Capital Conference Athletic Administrators Hall of Fame in 1998. Additionally, Cuppett is a member of the Salem International University Athletic Hall of Fame and received the Lifetime Achievement induction in 2004, the Salem College Alumni Association Football Hall
of Fame inducted in 2011 and received the Chillicothe Education Association Educator Emeritus
in 2003.
