Travel Tuesdays Is New Weekly Feature For Visit Pike County
Presented By Classic Brands
(Waverly) – Visit Pike County is introducing a new weekly series known as Travel Tuesdays. Showcasing Pike County’s best attractions, places to see and things to do.
Their first Travel Tuesday brought them to the Pike Heritage Museum. Since 1983, the museum has been run by the Pike Heritage Foundation, a non-profit organization that is governed by a board of twenty trustees from across Pike County.
Inside the Pike Heritage Museum you will find artifacts, relics, and pieces of Pike County’s history from the earliest settlers, to the civil war and canal era, through the atomic age and to modern day. The stories you will discover are fascinating.
The museum is free and open to visitors on Saturdays and Sunday from 1pm to 4pm. Private tours are available by appointment.
The museum also gives back to the community by providing educational opportunities and materials for Pike County third-grade students.
Visit Pike County urges everyone to stay tuned for more announcements from the museum as they will be featuring exciting events to celebrate their 40th anniversary in the next year. For anyone interested in volunteering to help with the 40th anniversary events, please call the museum and leave a message.
