Unioto & Bloom Carroll Get Upper Hand In Conference Volleyball Play

Two big high school volleyball matches Thursday saw Unioto and Bloom Carroll gain early season conference leads with victories. Unioto grabbed a (3-1) SVC win at Adena while Bloom Carroll did likewise at Circleville in the MSL.
In SVC play, the match between the two considered front runners, saw (2-0/5-0) Unioto overpower (1-1/1-2) Adena (25-20, 15-25, 25-16, 25-16) in Frankfort. Unioto’s front line controlled most of the match, blocking and blowing attacks off Adena’s blockers. Ella Cutright led the Shermans’ attack with 10 kills and Kyra Stulley added 6. Morgan Daniels led the defense with 27 digs and also served 3 aces. Emma Specht and Madelyn Wetzel each had 12 assists in the setting position. Adena was led by Corrine Day with 13 kills and Katie Burns with 8. Kamryn Sowers had 15 digs and Brooke Bossert 14 digs to lead the defense.
Southeastern rallied from down (1-2) to hand Huntington their first loss in five sets, with an incredible 28-26 fifth set. The Panthers won by scores (13-25, 27-25, 18-25, 25-19, 28-26). Elsewhere in the SVC, Westfall swept Piketon (25-7, 25-9, 25-12). Zane Trace beat Paint Valley in four sets, (23-25, 25-21, 25-16, 25-9).
In the MSL, the battle of unbeatens saw Bloom Carroll winning at Circleville (19-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-20).
