Article Presented By Accurate Heating, Cooling & Plumbing…
(Chillicothe) – Join Mound City Group from 9:30am-Noon Friday, July 25th to learn about and help collect dragonfly nymphs.

Volunteers must register by calling (740) 774-1126, be 13 years or older, and be aware, the sampling site has rough terrain and swift currents and is off the normal trail.
The Dragonfly Mercury Project (DMP) aims to track mercury levels across the U.S. to determine where and why mercury levels are high. This provides valuable information to researchers in areas such as public health, environmental policy, and land management.

This project also allows parks to see the diversity of dragonflies in their waterways and is a great opportunity for anyone to learn about dragonflies, other aquatic macroinvertebrates, and aquatic ecology.
Nets, containers, and other collection materials will be provided. Make sure to bring water, sunscreen, a snack, and waterproof boots or sandals.
On the day of the event, meet at the Mound City Group Visitor Center to check-in. The sampling site is a half-mile walk from the visitor center.
