Volunteers Sought for Hopewell Culture National Historical Park
Article Presented By Tomlinson Insurance…
(Chillicothe) – There is an immediate need for volunteers to assist the ranger staff in the Visitor Center. The visitation is increasing and they need dependable extra hands to help with outreach, working with the public, setup and tear down of programs and roving at the sites.
The Friends of Hopewell Culture National Historical Park is helping to get the word out about the need for volunteers. Here are the main points:
- Volunteer position: Visitor Center Assistant
- Volunteer start date and schedule: 10am to 4pm on Saturdays beginning April 6. Currently, the primary need is Saturdays. This opportunity could extend further into the summer depending on volume of visitation and ranger staff.
- Volunteer duties: This position will often include working the front-desk when rangers are busy with other needs. The volunteer will be trained in safety procedures, the orientation of the public and working with the Eastern National gift shop cash register. Standing for periods of time, lifting, walking, and working with the general public, will be standard duties.
