
Wheelersburg Blanks Liberty Union 10-0 For Their 4th State Championship

Wheelersburg scored five runs in the first inning and added a run in the third, three in the fifth and one in the sixth inning enroute to their fourth state softball title in school history Friday at Akron’s Firestone Stadium.

The Lady Pirates held defending state champion Liberty Union scoreless for the six inning contest as they pounded 16 hits while holding the Lady Lions to only two base hits as Kaylynn Carter struck-out 9 LU batters for the victory. Burg also had six players with multiple hits in the contest, led by Jalynn Drake going 3 for 4 at the plate. Makenzie Mullens, Kaylynn Carter, and Ava Estep each drove in 2 runs. Estep also had the lone home run in the game.
Wheelersburg ran the table this season with a (28-0) record while runner-up Liberty Union concludes at (29-2).
The Lady Pirates also won state titles in 2023, 2022, and 2016. They were runner-up in 2021,
2017, 2015, and 2004.
