YMCA Swimmers Back to the Nationals

While the world’s eyes are on the action in La Défense Arena’s Olympic swimming pool in Paris, some local swimmers are getting attention stateside.
Chillicothe’s Ryan Blum and Lancaster YMCA swimmers are competing for medals this week at the 2024 YMCA Long Course Championships in Ocala, Florida at Florida Aquatics Swimming & Training.
The only representative for the YMCA of Ross County, Blum is in the water Thursday for the 100 Meter Fly prelims and the 50 Fly prelims on Friday.
Meanwhile, Logan Elm’s Lindsay Bright has tallied two-points for the Lancaster Y team in the 800 Meter Freestyle, beating her time by nearly 1 minute 10 seconds. She finished 19th in the field. She’ll swim the 200 Meter Free on Wednesday and the 400 Free on Friday.
Lancaster Y teammates, Jackson and Max Hensley are joined by Williams McMasters and John Pennington at the meet. The four teamed for the 200 Meter Relay Medley, placing 31st.
McMasters is slated for five more events, beginning Wednesday with the 200 Meter Backstroke. His other events are 100 Meter Fly, 100 Meter Breaststroke, 100 Meter Backstroke and 200 Meter Intermediate.
Max Hensley, the elder Hensley, placed 62nd in the 50 Meter Breaststroke. He’ll also participate in the 100 Meter and 200 Meter Breaststroke and 200 Meter IM.
Jack Hensley will also participate in the 200 Meter Breaststroke in addition to 400 Meter IM, 100 Meter Breaststroke and 200 Meter IM.
The Championships wrap up Saturday.
