Yoctangee Park Development Set To Begin With Building Demolition
Article Presented By Kingston National Bank…
(Chillicothe) – Chillicothe Mayor Luke Feeney has announced the demolition of the City Service and Parks & Recreations building at 89 Riverside Street. Work will be completed by the end of August 2025. The Service and Parks & Recreation crews have relocated to the new City Service Building at 400 East 7th Street, which was purchased in 2019 from Pepsi and renovated to accommodate City departments.
89 Riverside Street will become home to a new Visitors’ Center and Hopewell Cultural National Park office operated by the Ross-Chillicothe Convention and Visitors’ Bureau and the National Park Service.
The Ross County Commissioners received $5 million in the State Capital Budget for the construction of this Visitors’ Center. The location was strategically chosen because it enhances the $35 million Appalachian Community Grant Program’s (ACGP) investment in the park and is easily accessible to visitors.
The structures at 89 Riverside Street received the proper environmental surveys and clearance and, through partnership with the Ross County Land Bank, will be demolished, utilizing Building Demolition and Site Revitalization grant funds through the Ohio Department of Development.
