Thursday was a big night for area conference softball championships being decided, while an upset in the SVC creates a Friday night showdown between league leaders.
In the SVC, state ranked and conference unbeaten Unioto suffered their first SVC loss, falling 5-3 at Zane Trace. That, coupled with a 14-1 Adena win over Piketon, puts the Lady Shermans and Lady Warriors in a first place tie going into their Friday rematch in Frankfort. Unioto crushed Adena 15-5 in the first round, which is Adena’s lone SVC loss. Litter Media Twitter will have score updates on Friday’s title game.
Hillsboro won their won their third straight FAC softball championship with a convincing 10-0 win over runner-up Jackson. The Lady Indians finish the league season with a perfect (10-0) mark.
The undisputed MSL Buckeye softball crown goes to D-1 state ranked Teays Valley with a 7-1 victory over Circleville. The Lady Vikings remain unbeaten in MSL play with a couple of games to play.
In the SOC 1, D-4 state ranked Portsmouth Notre Dame claimed their 4th straight league title with a 5-0 victory over Symmes Valley. Gwen Sparks fired a no-hitter and fanned 13 SV batters.
D-2 top ranked Athens remained unbeaten for the season, while claiming at least a share of their first TVC softball title since 2012 with a 9-1 win over Vinton County.
