The Danville Dans scored five runs in their final at bats for a 5-2 win to earn a split of their series with the Chillicothe Paints Sunday.

Chillicothe’s Tyler Ronevich was touched for two runs in the 8th inning and Danville’s Cooper McMurray knocked a three-run homer in the top of the 9th for the winning margin.

The Paints’ Kent Reeser singled in Rylet Preece in the 3rd inning for the early lead and Jake Shier scored on an Alex Ludwick double for a 2-0 lead in the 5th.

Myc Witty worked five scoreless innings before giving way to Ronevich in the 6th inning.

The loss snapped a 4-game winning streak for the Paints.

After an off day Monday, Chillicothe heads to Johnstown for a two game set with the division leading Millrats Tuesday and Wednesday before returning to VA Memorial Stadium for one game stand with West Virginia Thursday.

The American Legion Ohio Region V Tournament will be hosted by the Paints Monday through Thursday.

In MLB action, the Indians won their series with the Athletics in Oakland while the Reds were swept by the Brewers in Cincinnati.

Milwaukee had dropped three straight to the Reds prior to the All-Star Break but rebounded for the sweep at Great American Ball Park with an 8-0 win Sunday.

The Indians doubled up the A’s 4-2 Sunday after splitting the first two games of the weekend.

Cleveland heads to Houston Monday while the Reds home stand continues with the New York Mets.
