First Capital Celebrates Statehood Day March 7th
Happy 217th Ohio
It’s one of Chillicothe’s proudest moments, annually celebrating the birth of Ohio’s Statehood, March 1, 1803.
The celebration takes place Saturday March 7, 2020 beginning at Trinity United Methodist Church on East Main Street with the Statehood Day Prayer Breakfast, presented by the Chillicothe Kiwanis Club and Ross County Ministerial Association. This year’s honoree is Stan Mitchell, recognized for his achievement in service to the community. Speakers will include Ohio Auditor of State, Keith Faber and Chaplain Paul Ray. Tickets for the event are $10 and available at the Ross-Chillicothe Convention and Visitors Bureau, from Kiwanis members, Stacy Brooks or Diane Carnes.
Chillicothe’s museums and historic sites will be open free of charge, including Adena Mansion & Gardens (10am-4pm), Lucy Hayes Heritage Center (10am-4pm), Ross County Heritage Center (12pm-4pm), David Nickens Heritage Center (1p-4p) and the Ross County Genealogical Society at their new location, 303 South Paint Street, (9am-4pm).
