Free Car Fit Checks for Older Adults Coming to the Fayette County Community Health Fair
Article Presented By Hometown-Motors, Inc. …
WASHINGTON CH – Older drivers are among the safest on the road. They are more likely to wear seat belts and less likely to speed or drive while impaired. But when crashes do happen, older adults face a greater risk of serious injury. A properly fitted vehicle can make a real difference, and this June, Community Action is making it easy to get that check for free.
CarFit is coming to the Fayette County Community Health Fair on Saturday, June 6. It is a free, 20-minute program that helps older adults make sure their vehicle is properly adjusted for them. It is not a driving test. No one is grading you. It is simply a one-on-one check with a trained technician to make sure your seat, mirrors, steering wheel, and seatbelt are set up to keep you as safe and comfortable as possible behind the wheel.
CarFit was developed through a partnership between AAA, AARP, and the American Occupational Therapy Association. The program helps aging drivers improve vehicle fit for safety and comfort, and connects participants with community resources that support safe driving and mobility.
Appointments are highly recommended as they will be given priority over those who drive up without an appointment. Checks are free and take about 20 minutes. Call 614-645-2104 to schedule.
The Fayette County Community Health Fair is June 6 at Grace Community Church. Doors open at 8 a.m. CarFit is one of many free health resources available that day. Everyone is welcome.
