OHSAA Announces Golf, Girls Tennis, Soccer and Volleyball Tournament Divisions

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio High School Athletic Association has announced the new divisional breakdowns for the upcoming fall sports tournaments in girls and boys golf, girls tennis, girls and boys soccer and girls volleyball.

In May, schools were given the opportunity to move up to Division I.  The divisional breakdowns linked below reflect any schools that opted up to Division I in that sport.

The 2026-27 school year will be the first of a new two-year enrollment cycle using data provided by the Ohio Department of Education. The fall sports of soccer and girls volleyball also go through the OHSAA competitive balance process. Notable changes for schools in our coverage area:

Boys Golf (3 Divisions): Moving up to D-I from D-II – Gallia Academy; to D-II from D-III – Adena; East Clinton; Rock Hill; North Adams; Fort Frye; and Eastern Brown. On the bubble – Unioto remains at D-II, but just misses D-I by two boys. The smallest D-II schools have 247, the Shermans have 245.

Girls Golf (2 Divisions): Moving up to D-I from D-II – Vinton County. Moving Down from D-I to D-II – Circleville and McClain.

Girls Tennis (2 Divisions): Moving up to D-I from D-II – Miami Trace. Moving Down from D-I to D-II – Bloom-Carroll.

Boys Soccer (5 Divisions): Moving up to D-III from D-IV – Unioto. Moving Down from D-III to D-IV – Circleville. Moving up to D-IV from D-V – Minford. Moving down from D-IV to D-V – Zane Trace;

Girls Soccer (5 Divisions): Moving up to D-III from D-IV – Hillsboro. Moving Down from D-III to D-IV – Washington CH. Moving up to D-IV from D-V – Chesapeake; Westfall. Moving down to D-V from D-IV – Alexander; Rock Hill.

Girls Volleyball (7 Divisions): Moving up to D-III from D-IV – Jackson. Moving up to D-IV from D-V – Wheelersburg; Chesapeake; River Valley; New Lexington. Moving up to D-V from D-VI – Portsmouth West. Moving up to D-V from D-VI – Southeastern; North Adams; Oak Hill; Rock Hill; West Union; Liberty Union. Moving up to D-VI from D-VII – Symmes Valley. Moving down to D-VII from D-VI – Paint Valley; Eastern Pike; South Webster; Newark Catholic; Waterford

The fall sport of field hockey has one division. For golf, the official start date for tryouts, practice and competition is July 29. For all other fall sports, tryouts and practice can begin on August 1, followed by staggered season start dates by sport.
