The (16-6) Portsmouth Trojans met the (9-14) Piketon Redstreaks Friday night to determine who would move on in D-3 Boys Basketball.
The game saw the Trojans score first, but the first five minutes were very back and forth. The game was 7-7 with after five minutes of play. The Trojans went on a run towards the end of the first quarter, bringing it to 16-9 with two minutes left. The first quarter ended 20-12 in favor of Portsmouth.
Portsmouth came out swinging during the second quarter, giving up no points for three minutes and scoring 7 of their own. The Redstreaks’ offense only scored 5 points the entire quarter to bring their score to 17, while Portsmouth ended the half with a score of 39.
The third quarter was electric, and back and forth the entire time. Portsmouth added two points to their previous lead, with a score of 58-34 going into the final quarter.
The final score of the game was 74-42. Deandre Berry led Portsmouth in scoring with 22 points, while Donnovan Breech had 20. Brent Mcguire led Piketon with 12 points on the night.
