The Ohio Women Veterans Conference, scheduled to take place Saturday, August 6, on the campus of The Ohio State University, is accepting registrations through Sunday, July 17.

This means former service members who would like to attend this all-day event and network with fellow women veterans have less than a week to be part of this year’s conference.

This one-of-a-kind event once again will feature an expansive resource fair along with many other familiar sessions and activities. Last held in 2019 at the Ohio Union, the conference will return to that outstanding venue and feature a comprehensive format.

Organizers currently are putting the finishing touches on this highly anticipated event – one of the largest of its kind in the country – to assemble resources, speakers, workshops, avenues to key information, and networking opportunities. Already in the works is the resource fair (now at full capacity), allowing veterans service organizations, government agencies, VA program representatives, employers, financial services, volunteer services, and other vendors to directly connect with women veterans.

The conference will feature several special guests and two keynote speakers during the luncheon: Female Engagement Team Members Kimberly D. Snow and Desiree L. Layne. Both are active duty service members. Ohio Department of Veterans Services Director Deborah Ashenhurst also will offer remarks and engage the attendees. Kimberly D. Frisco, a 2020 inductee of the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame and currently the Executive Director of the Montgomery County Veterans Service Office, will serve as emcee.

Additionally, there will be breakout sessions exploring many different aspects of Health & Wellness and Education & Employment, including a representative from Intel.

Along with the breakout sessions, conference attendees can take in displays that honor women of service and the approximately 67,000 women veterans in Ohio. Organizers also plan to include a women’s history exhibit featuring a film that looks back at the exploits of “The Six Triple Eight” Central Postal Directory Battalion, a famous all-women Army unit of the WWII era.

The conference also will include a space for Health, Empowerment, Restoration, and Relaxation; and multiple networking opportunities.
