The Lady Shermans struck first in the contest, thanks to a Morgan Daniels’ single followed by an Abbie Marshall two-run homer for the early 2-0 lead.

But that’s where the Unioto offensive highlights ended, managing to gain only one other base hit the rest of the game.

The Lady Warriors tied the game 2-2 in the bottom of the second inning when Sophie Cheesebrew singled, was sacrificed to second by Adelynn Nelson, then scored on Guarnieri’s RBI single.

Adena had a break-out third inning, scoring twice. Emma Garrison walked, Caelan Miner was hit by a pitch, then Bossert’s fielder’s choice scored Garrison for a 3-2 lead. Miner later scored on a passed ball for a 4-2 lead.

Adena made it 5-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning when Kiera Williams doubled, stole third then scored when the attempt to throw her out at third went into left field.

The final sixth run was added in the fifth inning when Bossert reached on an infield single, was sacrificed to second by Maddie Halcomb, then scored on a Caroline Corcoran RBI single to shallow right field. It was ruled a base hit due to the difficult play for the Unioto fielder.

Unioto threatened with only their third hit of the game on a one-out single in the top of the seventh inning, before Bossert retired the last two batters on a sacrifice and a game-ending strike out.

Adriana Guarnieri, Kiera Williams and Caroline Corcoran each has two hits for Adena.
