The Alton River Dragons have forced a third and deciding game in the Prospect League Championship Series with a 2-0 win at Chillicothe, Saturday night. The series is even at (1-1), with the deciding game for the title to be played at 6:05pm Sunday at V.A. Memorial Stadium.
The Paints were blanked on four hits, but had only one hit until the seventh inning.
The River Dragons scored single runs in the third and seventh innings. Blake Burris and Ethan Kleinheider had two hits each. Burris drove in one of Alton’s two runs.
Chillicothe had runners at second and third base in the 9th inning, but Alton reliever Colton Huntt slammed the door with a strikeout to end the game.
Adam Stilts got the win on the mound for Alton, pitching 7.2 innings, yielding only one hit. Colton Huntt worked the 8th and 9th innings, yielding 3 hits. Jake Norris took the loss for the Paints, giving up both earned runs.
