Bloom Carroll Clinches Share of MSL-Buckeye With 49-0 Win Over Teays Valley

The Bloom Carroll Bulldogs clinched no worse than a share of the Mid State League-Buckeye Division with a 49-0 win over Teays Valley.

The game started with Bloom Carroll and Teays Valley trading possessions without a score.

The Bulldogs K.J. Benedict scampered 2 yards for a touchdown at 2:09 of the first quarter for a 7-0 lead, following the PAT kick.

The first quarter ended with Bloom Carroll driving to Teays Valley 27 yard line, leading 7-0.

The Bulldog’s Chase Plantz didn’t take long to add to their lead, scoring on a 1 yard TD run for a 14-0 advantage with 11:30 left in the first half.

Bloom Carroll extended their lead to 21-0 on a Dylan Armentrout TD run from 5 yards out at 6:05 left in the half.

Less than two minutes later, Armentrout scored on a 75 yard run to make it 28-0 at 4:18 in the second quarter.

Bloom Carroll then blew the game open on a 10 yard Chase Plantz TD run for a 35-0 halftime lead, which put the continuous clock in play for the rest of the game, since they had a 35 point deficit. 

Bloom Carroll’s defense was as good as the offense in the first half, holding Teays Valley to only 35 yards of total offense and no first downs.

The second half picked up where the first half ended for Bloom Carroll, with QB K.J. Benedict connecting on a TD pass of 18 yards to Branyon Dodds to make it 42-0 at 7:47 of third quarter.

The Bulldogs defense also got in on the scoring act when Carter Bepler took a pick-six 98 yards for a touchdown and the final margin of victory of 49-0 with 4:09 left in the game.

Bloom Carroll quarterback K.J. Benedict was the “McDonald’s Player of the Game”.

The Bloom Carroll win clinches no worse than a share of the Mid State League crown. The Bulldogs conclude the regular season at Hamilton Township, while the Vikings host Logan Elm.

Both Bloom Carroll and Teays Valley are certain to gain post-season berths, with the Bulldogs now (6-0/9-0) and Teays Valley (5-1/8-1).

Next week’s Litter Media Game of the Week will be for the FAC Championship, as Chillicothe travels to Jackson. The Ironman have already clinched a share of the title, with Chillicothe needing a win to share the championship.
