(Ross County) – In a continuing effort to offer library resources to everybody in the community, the Chillicothe and Ross County Public Library (CRCPL) has added 24/7 library hold pickup lockers, or BookHives, in the Village of Clarksburg and at the Zane Village Mobile Home Park in Chillicothe. The BookHives are a continuation of CRCPL’s expanding Outreach Department, which launched CRCPL’s first mobile library, The Bee, in May.

Funded by a State Library of Ohio and Institute of Museum and Library Services grant, the BookHives allow the library to expand access beyond physical buildings and business hours for people who might not have the transportation or time to make it to a library location.

The BookHives, which were installed at both locations in late spring, are now ready for public use. To use the lockers, patrons can place items on hold through the CRCPL catalog, the app, or by calling the library at 740-702-4145. After selecting either BookHive as a pick-up location, they will be notified when their item is ready to be picked up. Patrons can then arrive at the BookHive anytime that is convenient for them, scan their library card and enter their PIN number, and a locker door will pop open with their materials.

The BookHive sites also provide book return bins, 24/7 WiFi access, and pop-up stops from The Bee.
