Charging your electric vehicle in Chillicothe just got a time reduction, thanks to two new ChargePoint DC Super Chargers recently installed downtown.

Clint Boggs, Chillicothe City Parks and Recreation Director says the city, in association with American Electric Power, received $136,727.01 for the super chargers. Boggs says the city is tracking usage of the chargers. “In total, we have avoided 6,460 kilograms of green house gases” said Boggs, adding “which is similar to planting 166 trees and letting them grow for ten years”.

Chargers can now be found in three locations in and around Chillicothe.

The two DC Fast Chargers are in the Municipal parking lot on the south side of Yoctangee Park at 37 East Water close to the four chargers which were installed in 2021. E-V CHARGING TO EXPAND IN CHILLICOTHE

There are eight Tesla chargers in Zane Plaza near Arby’s and two on the campus of Adena Regional Medical Center.

Pricing can vary depending on the charging station and there’s an app to learn when a charger is available or busy.

The super chargers greatly reduce the time to charge a vehicle. It can take up to eight hours to reach a full charge, but the super chargers can do the same in 30 minutes. The trade off is the cost to charge. As of this report, the rate for the super charge is $15 per hour while the slower chargers can be as low as $2.50 per hour.

According to ChargeHub.com, home chargers range between $800 to $2,200.
