Ella Skeens Named River States Conference Player Of Year

Southeastern High School graduate Ella Skeens has been named River States Conference Player of the Year and RSC Newcomer of the Year, after leading the University of Rio Grande to a conference title.

Skeens transferred to the Red Storm from Ball State University, where she spent her sophomore season. Skeens signed with University of Dayton out of high school, after becoming the Scioto Valley Conference’s all-time leading scorer.

The Rio Grande junior averaged 18.1 points and 8.2 rebounds per game for Rio Grande while shooting 51 percent from the field, 41 percent from 3-point range and 77 percent at the foul line.

Her coach, David Smalley was named RSC Coach of the Year after leading the team to a record of (16-1/30-2) regular season.

Rio Grande defeated Midway March 1st in the RSC Tournament title game and will now move on to NAIA Tournament play.

There were several other players from Rio Grande and Ohio Christian University on the All RSC squad.
