(Chillicothe 5/1/23) – The Pump House Center for the Arts (PHCA) is over one month into their “Fix Our Bricks” campaign. The center is much in need of exterior repair and restoration, with a great many bricks, stone supports, and lentils requiring replacement. An expert has been consulted and has agreed to do the work, but money needs to be raised. The work contracts must be finalized by the spring of 2024. The entire project will take about $185,000 to complete. “We have applied and been put on the list to receive $129,000 from the Ohio Facilities Commission, but we need to raise the rest ourselves”, stated PHCA Executive Director John Payne.

Payne says he and the members of the PHCA fundraising committee have planned several events for the public. Watch this recent interview with John Payne as Litter Media’s Mike Smith gets a visual example of the need for repair. CLICK HERE:

Donations are still being accepted. For tier one donors, $1,000 will ensure a brass plate affixed to an interior wall brick of the PHCA. The plate will have engraved the name of the donor. These plates on the wall bricks will be a permanent fixture. Tier two $500 donors’ names will be engraved on plates affixed to a large wooden plaque to be hung inside the PHCA. Families, Civic and Local Clubs are encouraged to add their names to the tier one and tier two donor plates.

Donors or $1,000 or more will have their names posted inside the Pump House Center for the Arts

“Of course, in addition to these large donations, smaller donations are also welcome. There will be a donation tree inside the building for these. The tree will be in place throughout the campaign in 2023”, added Payne.

Members of the community can donate to this cause at any time by visiting the PHCA web site at thepumphouse.art and clicking on the donation link.

The fundraising committee has more plans in progress, such as art auctions and drawings, art lessons, song, and storytelling, as well as a catered dinner October 19th at the Post Mark party venue on South Paint Street, and a July 27th concert venue with Hillbilly Chic at the Pump House.

Stay tuned for dates and particulars for these events.
