Foundation Of Appalachian Ohio Awards Scholarships To Area Students

(Chillicothe) – The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio has awarded more than $593,000 in donor-established postsecondary scholarships to students in the region, including three from Ross County.

Adena High School graduates Randy Daniels and Sydnee Robinson received the Bob Evans and Wayne F. White Legacy Scholarship, honoring the legacy and commitment these two friends had to the Appalachian Ohio region.

Cole Miller, a graduate of Paint Valley High School, received the AK Steel Scholarship, supporting students pursuing studies in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields with particular emphasis on metallurgy.

From Pike County, recipients were: John Lightle, Chloe Pennington and Kelsey Helphenstine.

From Jackson County: Joesph Sharp, Tessa Wells, Elizabeth Hughes, Natalie Malone, Cecilia Plummer and Kaydee Brown.

Hocking County: Robert Bauers, Sarah Leon and Emma Fields.

Scioto County: Blake Hammond and William Basham.

FAO partners with donors and volunteers to award scholarships through a competitive application process to students across the 32 counties of Appalachian Ohio. To date this year, FAO has awarded nearly 600 postsecondary scholarships, totaling more than $593,000, to 337 students thanks to gifts from residents and friends of Appalachian Ohio who recognize the role education can play in the future success of both young adults and the region’s communities.
