Harrison Township Fire/Squad Receives Water Grant From Anheuser-Busch

Presented By Classic Brands

A dozen skids of Anheuser-Busch cans of water were delivered to the Harrison Township Fire/Squad House on Charleston Pike, Thursday- thanks to a grant the company awarded to the volunteer firefighting and EMS organization. Classic Brands of Chillicothe was the local distributer of the water.

Lt. Greg Campbell of the Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Department said they applied for the grant 2-3 years ago. The department recently received 300 cases, which totaled 3,600 cans of water.

Campbell says the water will be stored in their fire trucks for firefighting personnel, as well as for any disaster remediation efforts they might participate in. Campbell said some of the water could also be shared with other area departments that might have need.

This represents the first Anheuser-Busch grant of this kind to Ross County.

Campbell says the Harrison Township fire/squad is comprised of 50 volunteers on their roster with 25 active.

Campbell hopes the water could last their department approximately 2-3 years, depending on number of runs they make.

In a release from Anheuser-Busch, the company states:

“We have a long-standing commitment to supporting our neighbors during times of need.

Every year, we periodically pause beer production in our Fort Collins, CO, and Cartersville, GA breweries to apply our production and logistics expertise to can clean, safe drinking water that is ready to distribute when disaster strikes.

Since the inception of our emergency drinking water program in 1988, Anheuser-Busch and our wholesaler partners have worked alongside the American Red Cross to provide emergency drinking water to U.S. communities affected by natural disasters and other crises.

In 2019, we also teamed up with the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) to support volunteer firefighters battling wildfires across the country and provide critical hydration to those who are volunteering to put their lives on the line.

To date, we have produced and distributed more than 86 million cans of emergency drinking water to communities across the country in support of relief efforts. Most recently this year, we have provided:

These donations represent our ongoing commitment to help American communities when they need it most.
