(Logan Elm HS) – The Logan Elm High School Athletic Hall of Fame Induction ceremony will be held Saturday, January 20th. The Logan Elm Athletic Hall of Fame ceremony will start following the boys’ JV basketball game at approximately 3:15pm. The Varsity game will follow the HOF ceremony at approximately 4pm. The evening nightcap will feature the rescheduled girls basketball game as Logan Elm hosts the unbeaten Lady Tigers of Circleville. All events will take place in the McDowell Gym.

Brandon Amann – Class of 2009
While a student-athlete at Logan Elm for only one year, Brandon Amann made a big impact on the basketball court earning all-League, District, and State honors.

Amann was the team’s leading scorer on the highly decorated Final Four team of 2009 averaging 21.2 points per game. He scored a total of 552 points his Senior season which at the time, was a school record for points scored in a single season. Today, it ranks him 2nd all-time for most points scored in a season.

Brandon Amann is the owner of Ole Roundtown Barbershop in Circleville. He and his wife Kaci (Keller) have three boys: Carsen, Nolan and Brycen. He coaches youth basketball and travel baseball and he enjoys spending time with his kids, playing sports with them, and traveling with his wife.

Doug Stiverson

Doug Stiverson is the most successful coach in Logan Elm Boys Basketball History. His entire 23-year head coaching career was spent at Logan Elm, something that has become rare in high school coaching. Stiverson came to Logan Elm in 1999 and retired from coaching in 2023. During this time, Coach Stiverson compiled a record of 373-179. His teams have won 16 Pickaway County Championships, 7 Mid State League Championships, 14 Sectional Championships, 5 Southeast District Titles, and 1 Regional Championship. In 2009, Coach Stiverson led his team to the State Final Four.

Doug Stiverson graduated from Logan High School in 1989 where he was a standout basketball player earning All-Ohio Honors and scoring 1,074 career points. He continued his education and playing career at Capital University where he was a 3-time letter winner and 2-time team Co-Captain. Stiverson was inducted into the Logan High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 1997. Later this March, Coach Stiverson will be inducted into the Mid State League Hall of Fame.

Doug Stiverson is the son of Chris and Kathy Stiverson who are his #1 Fans. He has been married to his wife Shawn for 28 years. Together they have two daughters, Rylee (LE Class 2016) who is a Speech Language Pathologist for Madison-Champaign County ESC and Reagan (LE Class 2021) who is a Junior at Miami University, majoring in School Psychology.

1993-1994 Logan Elm High School Varsity Girls Basketball Team

The 1993-1994 Logan Elm High School Varsity Girls Basketball Team made history by becoming the first athletic team in Logan Elm history to qualify for the State Final Four. They were the first Girls Basketball team in Pickaway County to make the State Final Four. In fact, they were the first girls team in Pickaway County in any sport to make the State Final Four. Thirty years later, they are still the only Varsity Girls Basketball team in Pickaway County to ever make the Girls Basketball State Final Four.

The 1993-94 season started with a 53-33 loss to Liberty Union. With two losses to Teays Valley and losses to state-ranked Unioto, and to the eventual Division 3 State Champion, Adena, the team entered the State Tournament unranked. However, the Lady Braves’ tough regular season schedule prepared them for the road to the Final Four. The Lady Braves defeated Hamilton Twp. 55-40 to win the Sectional Championship. They went on to win the Division 2 Central District Championship Crown with a 45-40 win over Lakewood. In the Regional Tournament, the Lady Braves beat #10 State Ranked Gallia Academy 59-48. In the Regional Final Game, the Lady Braves defeated the #1 ranked team in the state, the previously undefeated Dover 52-46. Their Cinderella Season ended in the State Semi-Final game at St. John Arena in front of a crowd of 7,003 people losing to Avon Lake 64-44. Avon Lake would go on to win the Division 2 State Title. The Lady Braves finished the year with a 19-7 record.

The 1993-94 Lady Braves were coached by Clayton Stahr. While the girls coach at Logan Elm, Coach Stahr compiled a record of 151-114. Coach Stahr was inducted into the Mid State League Hall of Fame in 2001, and he was inducted into the Logan Elm Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007.

Bob Butts – Award of Merit

For more than 30 years, Bob Butts has been one of Logan Elm’s most generous supporters. Over the years, Mr. Butts has donated time and money to many of our athletic teams. During the late 90’s Logan Elm was one of the only schools in the area that still had a cinder track. The Logan Elm Athletic Boosters came up with a plan to pay for and install a new all-weather track here at the school. The project would not have been successful without Bob Butts being the largest financier of the project. It was a regular occurrence for him to attend and support the fund raisers our athletic teams held. At Chinese Auctions, he often bought so many tickets that it seemed his name would be called for most of the prices! However, Bob Butts would ask that another name be drawn or he would give the prizes away to kids who were also in attendance.

Bob Butts is a 1949 graduate of Laurelville High School where he played on the basketball team. He spent his free time working at the Sohio Gas Station run by his father. After graduation, Mr. Butts served in the Army during the Korean War where he drove and repaired dump trucks and tanks. When he came home from the war, he became a Volunteer Fireman for the Laurelville Fire Department and also began working for Dupont in Circleville, a job he held for 21 years. During that time, he also began to haul gravel and do some excavating work. In 1975, Mr. Butts started his own excavating business.

Bob Butts and his wife, Louise, live in Laurelville. He has 4 children: Teresa, Mike, Tom, and Caressa, 8 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. He is an active member of The Church of Christ in Christian Union where he serves as a trustee. Bob and Louise Butts love attending any activity that their grandchildren and great grandchildren are involved in. Chances are, you’ll see them in the stands at many events cheering them on. Mr. Butts would like to thank everyone for always being so kind to him. He appreciates everyone who takes time at the ball games to stop and talk.
