Logan Elm’s Lady Braves are now in the OHSAA Softball Elite 8, one step away from the State Final Four, following a back-and-forth 8-5 win over Jonathan Alder in the Division 2 Regional Semis at Pickerington Central High School Wednesday afternoon.

The game remained scoreless until JA struck with a solo homer from Evan Platfoot in the bottom of the third inning for a 1-0 lead. That lead grew to 2-0 in the fourth inningon an RBI single from Abby Bush.

The Lady Braves grabbed their first lead in the top of the fifth inning when they crossed the plate with five runs for a 5-2 advantage as they sent 9 batters to the plate. Single runs came in on a bunt by Ryleigh Wolfe, a fielders choice by Jaycie Clifton, single by Lucy Caplinger, then a two-run single by Tia Fowler.

Jonathan Alder cut into that LE lead with two runs in the bottom of the fifth, then a single run in the sixth tied it at 5-5.

As they did in their district title win, Logan Elm used late heroics to win the game in the top of the seventh inning. Clifton led off with a walk, Caplinger singled, then one out later, Taylor Fowler launched a three-run homer for the 8-5 lead, which they never relinquished.

Logan Elm had 8 runs on 12 hits, while JA countered with 5 runs on 10 hits.

The Braves face Dover at 5pm Friday for the Regional Championship at Pickerington Central High School. Litter Media “X” will again have updates of the game.
