Military Veterans To Be Honored At Southeastern Football Homecoming Game

(Southeastern H.S.) — Military veterans and active duty military service personnel will be honored at the Zane Trace at Southeastern Homecoming Football Game Friday, October 8th.

Southeastern Guidance Counselor Angela Flowers told Litter Media that veterans from both Zane Trace and Southeastern will be honored in the pre-game activities between 6:35pm-6:40pm.

Military veterans and active duty military personnel entering the ticket gate will be be admitted free and will be given a small American Flag and a meal voucher, where they will be fed at a tent inside the stadium.

The following is a schedule of events for the Homecoming Night activities and veterans tribute:

6:15pm- Homecoming Announcements (band plays during this)

6:40pm- P.A. Announcer Chris Wallace- “At this time, if you  are an active member of the military or a veteran, please stand and wave your flag so that our little Panthers football players can recognize you and provide you with a small token of our appreciation.”  

Swag Bags delivered by little football players as bands Play Service Songs to recognize all branches of military (4-5 minutes)

During medley- Wallace: “United States Navy, United States Army, United States Marines, United States Air Force”

6:45pm- Coin Toss with officials on field

Wallace: “At this time, please direct your attention to the center of the field for tonight’s coin toss, which will be conducted by a member of the National Guard.”

After coin toss SE & ZT Bands go on to field – wait for signal from Mr. Donahue to announce the National Anthem (bands need a minute to get in place on field)

6:48pm – Honor Veterans before the National Anthem. 

“At this time, we would like to invite everyone to stand and join us in a moment of silence to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Following this moment of silence, please remain standing for the playing of our National Anthem, The Star-Spangled Banner, performed by the Southeastern High School Marching Band under the direction of Mr. Jeff Donahue and the Zane Trace High School Marching Band under the direction of Mrs. Kate Waller and conducted by Southeastern Drum Majors Jordan Smith, Austin Stubbs, and Gabriel Davis.”

6:49pm – Bands Play National Anthem

6:51pm – Zane Trace Band exits field

6:52pm – SE Band & Cheerleaders form tunnel for football team

6:55pm – Football team runs through tunnel with flags and band plays Fight Song

7:00pm – Game starts
