As part of the Ohio Department of Transportation—District 9’s Planning Department, the district’s Environmental Office is seeking public input for projects in Ross and Highland counties.
In Ross County, ODOT is proposing a landslide remediation project on State Route 41 at the 5.50 mile mark. The project includes the construction of a drilled shaft retaining wall, pavement repair and installation of guardrail. The project is located in a residential area of Paxton Township.
No rivers, streams, wetlands or other water bodies will be impacted by the project. The project will not require new right-of-way. No homes or businesses will be removed by the project.
The roadway will be closed for the duration of the project, with a detour being State Route 41 to U.S. 50 to State Route 28 to State Route 41. The state detour is approximately 32 miles. The local detour will be S.R. 41 to U.S. 50 to Rapid Forge Road to Paugh Road to SR 41. The local detour is approximately 9.5 miles.
The funding for the project is 80% Federal and 20% State. The environmental commitment date is 10/4/2021. The project is currently expected to be awarded 1/24/2022.
In Highland County, it is proposed to replace the structure on State Route 72 at the 5.85 mile mark. The project is located in a rural area of Fairfield Township with the existing structure being a three span continuous reinforced concrete slab with capped pile piers and abutments. The structure was built in 1956. The new structure will be a single span composite prestressed concrete I beam with integral abutments on piles.
The project will not require new right-of-way, no homes or businesses will be removed by the project. The roadway will be closed for the duration of the project. The state detour will be S.R. 72 to S.R. 28 to S.R. 73 to S.R. 729 to S.R. 72. The state detour is approximately 22.3 miles. The local detour will be S.R. 72 to S.R. 28 to C.R. 82 (Larrick Rd.) to C.R. 152 (Stowe Rd.) to S.R. 72. The local detour is approximately 5.6 miles.
The funding for the project is 80% Federal and 20% Local. The environmental commitment date is 2/1/2022. The project is currently expected to be awarded 1/1/2023.
