CHILLICOTHE, Ohio The Chillicothe Paints, presented by Adena Health System, announce the hiring of Jackson White as the club’s 2022 field manager. He replaces John Penn, last year’s field manager.

Last season, White served as the Paints’ pitching coach, helping Chillicothe’s staff lead the Prospect League in complete games, while ranking third in both total strikeouts and WHIP, and fifth in earned run average. White helped mentor Ruben Ramirez, who would sign a free agent deal with the Kansas City Royals and eventually reach class Triple-A following the completion of the Paints’ playoff run.

“Words cannot explain how humbled I am to come back to Chillicothe,” said White. “Our players, support staff and host families make this place so special and difficult to leave each summer.”

Currently, White is an assistant coach for the defending NJCAA National Champion LSU Eunice Bengals, working with pitchers and assisting with day-to-day activities of the Bengal program. Previously, White served as an assistant coach at Indiana University-South Bend, Union College and Volunteer State Community College where he served as the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator.

The Carmel, Ind. native played under legendary coach Woody Hunt at Cumberland University (Lebanon, Tenn.) from 2013-18. During his playing career with the Phoenix, White was part of the 2014 NAIA National Championship team, posting a record of 49-20. The left-handed pitcher would later help Cumberland to the 2018 NAIA Regional Tournament. White stayed at Cumberland following his playing career, serving as a graduate assistant for the 2018-19 campaign.

White holds a bachelor’s degree from Cumberland University in Sports and Exercise Science as well as a Master’s in Sport Management.

“My mission is simple,” White added. “That is to develop men and get our guys to play the game the right way.”
