Penn & Snyder Crowned 2023 Pike County Fair Royalty

Kyla Penn and Connor Snyder will preside as Queen and King of the 2023 Pike County Fair. The crowning came during the opening ceremonies for the fair Sunday evening in Piketon.

“I really didn’t know what to think” Penn told Litter Media. “Everything’s still sinkin’ in.”

Penn is an incoming junior at Piketon High School and is a member of the Animals ‘R Us 4-H Club. She’s the daughter of Nikki and Kyle Penn. Her primary focus is on Swine Projects. She’s also assisted at Pike County Ag Awareness Day, teaching about pigs and was a presenter at the 2023 livestock clinic.

Running unopposed, Snyder was still a shoe in with an impressive resume. He’s the son of Summer Snyder and is entering his senior year at Waverly High School and Pike County CTC. He’s a member of the Pike County Beef and Breeders 4-H Club with his primary projects including Rabbits and miscellaneous project areas. He’s served as camp counselor for 4-H and specialty camps and is an active member of the Junior Fair Board and is a 4-H Teen Ambassador. This fall, Snyder will be a part of an Ohio 4-H Delegation to Puerto Rico on a cultural immersion experience. SEE THE LITTER MEDIA PHOTO ALBUM HERE

Other members of the Court include:

1^st Runner Up: Kylea Burdette, the daughter of Jessica and Jimmy Powers and Kyle Burdette and Denise Robinson. She’s an incoming senior at Waverly High School am dos a member of the Backhills Bunch 4-H Club. She’s been active as a Junior Fair Board Member, a 4-H camp counselor and many civic clubs. Burdette has presented Rabbit, Feeder Calf and Goat Projects at the fair.

2^nd Runner up: Sereniti Smith, the daughter of Brandi Hawthorne, is entering her junior year at Pike County CTC. She is a member of the Hare Raisers 4-H Club and has served as Club President and as a camp counselor.

3^rd Runner Up: Madi Day, the daughter of Robert and Amanda Day and will be a junior at Eastern High School. She is a member of the 4-H 4 Ever 4-H Club, completing Market Rabbit, Food and Nutrition, Archery, Art and Photography Projects. She’s a member of the Junior Fair Board.

4^th Runner Up: Chelsey Massey, the daughter of Tanece Riley and Barry Massey and is entering her senior year at Waverly High School. She’s a member of the Spunky Clovers 4-H Club with projects including Market Rabbits, Market Goats and Market Hogs.
