According to their website, samjambluegrass.com“The five-day features some of the most recognizable names in bluegrass music. SamJam also includes a youth music camp in conjunction with Glenville State University, the Pinecastle Records National Band Competition, a cornhole tournament and a Sunday prayer service, among other features.”

The SamJam Hop kicks off the 2021 festival on Wednesday, September 1st with fans being directed to local music venues before the festival shifts to the Pike County Fairgrounds, a picturesque setting in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains with accommodations for more than 300 electric and water hookups for campers. Primitive camping is also available.

The three venues for this year’s SamJam Hop are Beast and Bottle in Waverly, Ritchie’s Restaurant in Piketon and the Waverly Eagle’s Club.

Co-organizer Rick Greene says the reason behind The SamJam Hop opening night is that- “We bring 3,000 people to this event and we want them to see the (business) community along with the other great sites of Pike County.”

Greene says those attending the fairgrounds concerts should enter at the U.S. Route 23 entrance only. Tickets will be available at the main gate.
