(South Central Ohio) – May is Trauma Awareness Month. The blood already on hospital shelves is what helps in an emergency. The Red Cross depends on the generosity of volunteers to ensure blood products are available at a moment’s notice.
As we move through spring, the Red Cross encourages individuals to make an appointment to give blood. Donations made now can help patients and their families enjoy a fun-filled summer.

As a reminder:
- You need at least 10 donors over your blood drive goal to ensure that you have enough to account for those who will not be able to give/will not honor their appointment.
- Please make sure to have heat or AC turned on in buildings prior to the blood drive, depending on the weather.
- Doors need to be unlocked no less than an hour before the blood drive.
- If parking arrangements have been made for our staff, they need to be extended to at least an hour before/after the drive.
- All sidewalks and roadways need to be clear of hazardous debris, such as ice to ensure the safety of staff.
