(Chillicothe) – The Ross County Board of Elections is running short on poll workers for the August 2nd Ohio Special Election/Primary.

Jessica Ott, Deputy Director for the Ross County Board of Elections details the reason for the shortage of workers.

“Due to an uptick of COVID-19 cases throughout the State of Ohio, many poll workers who have signed up to work this election have had to cancel. There is likely to be a shortage of poll workers and the Ross County Board of Elections staff has contacted both the Ross County Democratic Party and the Ross County Republican Party to help increase our list of poll workers on standby for August 2, 2022 Primary/Special.”

If you are interested in working the polls, contact the Ross County Board of Elections at (740) 775-2350 or sign up on the Secretary of State’s Office at https://pollworkertracker.ohiosos.gov/signup. Poll workers will be paid $133.72 for their day of service.

Ott added that- “Signing up to be a poll worker is one of the best ways to make sure our democracy is strong and that everyone’s voice is heard!”
