Jenn Thomas, Executive Director, says the building has been long in disrepair and over the past several years have been discussing this move.
The Humane Society helps over 1,400 animals each year in a shelter constructed in the late 1990’s. Thomas says the current building’s walls are crumbling and the building is in disrepair.
A new 7,000 square feet facility with air quality, noise reduction, and enhanced disease control measures would bring a significant improvement in both the physical and weak being if the animals who are being housed in the current facility.
Thomas says the proposed new facility features:
*Increased kennel space
*Natural light for dogs
*Adopter room
*Dedicated intake area
*Flex space for behavior assessments
*Isolation area
*Cross contamination control
*Surgery suite
*Dedicated hospital
*Office/space for employees
*Increased storage
