Summer Hours Announced For HCNHP

(Chillicothe) – Hopewell Culture National Historical Park has announced their 2022 summer hours of operation. The Summer hours apply May 22 through August 13. The Mound City Group Visitor Center will be open between 9am and 5pm daily.

The park museum, Eastern National bookstore and gift shop and the park orientation film are available everyday of the week during operating hours.

Beginning Friday, May 27, daily ranger-guided programs and tours at Mound City Group will be offered. Visitors have the option of joining a morning tour of Mound City Group at 10am or an afternoon tour of Mound City Group at 3:30pm. Additionally, a daily midday ranger program “Hopewell Connections” will be offered at 1:30pm, will last approximately 30 minutes and will be a variety of topics giving visitors a unique and intriguing perspective on the earthworks, the National Park, and the American Indians of the Hopewell culture. “Hopewell Connections” will be a porch talk and not a walking tour of the mounds.

No reservations are required for the visitor center programs or tours. Upon arrival to Mound City Group visitor center, guests can proceed to the front desk for more information or to have questions answered. Guests attending ranger-guided tours are encouraged to visit the park website for information on weather and suggested things to bring on the tour. A water bottle is strongly recommended during the hot and humid summer months.

Park grounds at the Mound City Group, Hopeton Earthworks, Hopewell Mound Group, and Seip Earthworks units are always open from dawn to dusk.
