Unioto’s Lady Shermans scored five of their six runs in the first three innings in a 6-2 SVC Softball win at Adena Monday, enabling them to grab sole possession of the conference lead at (6-0).

The Lady Shermans scored three runs in the first inning on Ava Dettwiller’s bases clearing single, and added two runs in the second inning on an Adena throwing error off a Morgan Daniels bunt to spot them a 5-0 advantage. Unioto made it 6-0 in the top of the third inning on Dettwiller’s RBI single.

Adena scored both of their runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on an RBI single by Sophie Cheesebrew, followed by an RBI sacrifice bunt by Caroline Corcoran. An evening bigger scoring inning for the Lady Warriors was stopped when Unioto escaped to leave the bases loaded.

Unioto’s Ava Dettwiller went 2/2 at the plate, driving in four of the Tanks runs. Haylee Hull was 2/4, scoring a run, while Hannah Hull checked the Lady Warriors on just 4 base hits, striking-out four batters to claim the pitching win. Hailey Howard suffered the loss for Adena.

Unioto had 6 runs on 7 hits, but committed 5 errors. Adena had 2 runs on 4 hits and committed 2 errors.

Unioto improves to (6-0/9-3) while Adena slips to (4-1/11-3) for the season. Both teams have SVC make up games before closing round one of conference play.
