ODOT District 9 Public Information Director, Matt McGuire says the Ohio 772 Slip Repair Project in Ross County is on schedule, but will likely not be ready for traffic until early December.

“For the last week or so, we’ve had a lot more rain in the forecast and wet weather can slow down a project” McGuire told Litter Media. “Fortunately the contractor has been making good headway on this since the 60 day closure of S.R. 772 and we’re getting close to the finish line.”

The road has been closed since September 26th, 2022.

McGuire added once the retaining work is done, culverts from the hillside are being replaced, guard railing installed and temporary pavement will be laid with wrap up after the start of December.

The stretch of S.R. 772 is scheduled for repaving in spring of 2023.

Earlier this year, a project to excavate and bench back the existing hillside above S.R. 772 running along Ralston Run, between Bishop Hill Road and Rinehart Road was halted. As work on the project progressed, additional movement in the hillside prompted a reevaluation of the site, and ODOT District 9 Capital Programs Staff determined that a more extensive repair will be needed to permanently remediate the slide.
