Unioto’s Charlie Lewis and Logan Elm’s Grant Cline have qualified for the Division 2 Boys State Golf Tournament, while Wheelersburg takes the team district championship Wednesday at Crown Hill Golf Club. Circleville placed third, seven strokes out of a state qualifying position.
Lewis shot a 77, two strokes off district medalist Brady Gill of Wheelersburg. Grant Cline of Logan Elm also qualified, winning a two-hole playoff among three other players, who all shot 79’s in regulation. Carson Blankenship of Ironton placed third and Waverly’s Ben Nichols was fourth place among the individual golfers not on a qualifying team..
The Pirates will be joined by Sheridan as the other team to qualify, taking district runner-up honors.
