Volunteers helped unload 1,200 wreaths from a semi truck at the Chillicothe AMVETS Post Tuesday morning as part of the Daughters of the American Revolution effort to decorate military veterans graves each Christmas season.

Connie Meyer of the D.A.R. says the wreaths will be transferred from the AMVETS to Greenlawn Cemetery, beginning at 10:30am on December 17th, followed at noon by a short service. The wreaths will then be laid at the graves of Veterans following the ceremony, starting at Veterans Circle then Veterans Square, as well as any additional locations needing decorated.

“It’s a way we can honor, recognize, and thank our veterans that served and were willing to serve. And, we also teach our children the importance of these men and women who were willing to fight for their freedom”, said Meyer.

The ceremony is open to the public.
