Trailing 3-2 with two runners on base and two outs in the bottom of the 7th inning, the Hillsboro Indians pull a rabbit out of the hat when what appeared to be a routine fly ball that would have ended the game, was dropped by the Saint Clairsville fielder.
Saint Clairsville scored three runs in the first inning and led the entire game, until the final play of the game. The Indians scored both of their runs an inning later and the 3-2 score stayed that way going into Hillsboro’s last at-bat.
Both Indians runners scored off the Nick Lewis fly ball that popped out of the Saint Clairsville fielders’ glove as Hillsboro pulls out the 4-3 win.
Hillsboro returns to Teays Valley High School at 3pm Saturday to face Bloom Carroll for the Division 2 Regional Championship, with the winner advancing to the State Final 4 in Akron.
