Set #1 saw ZT and Adena jockeying for position early with both teams having early leads. Zane Trace got their biggest lead at 9-6, before the Warriors went on a 6-0 run for 12-9 lead. The Pioneers roared back from a 13-10 deficit for 14-13 lead. Adena surged back into a 19-15 advantage, then Zane Trace rallied to tie it at 19-19 on Lexi Scott’s back-to-back kills. A Pioneers serving error put Adena up 20-19. With the score even at 22-22, the Pioneers took a 23-22 lead on a Warriors hitting error. Adena finished on a 3-0 run when Brinlee Preston’s block gave Adena a 25-23 Set #1 win.

Set #2 saw Adena blast out to 10-0 lead before ZT scored. The Pioneers stormed back to within 12-9, forcing Adena to call a timeout. That seemed to help Adena at the time, dashing out to a commanding 21-11 lead. The Pioneers went on an 8-0 run to get within 21-19, but Adena closed on a 4-1 run, as Eva Kruger’s kill handed Adena a 25-20 Set 2 win and a (2-0) match lead.

Set #3 started much like the second, when Adena took off to a 5-0 lead. But, Zane Trace came back to grab a 16-12 lead. Adena answered to take an 18-17 lead, forcing Zane Trace to take a timeout. That was the medicine needed for the Pioneers, as they closed on an 8-4 run for a 25-22 win and cut the Adena’s match lead to (2-1).

The Pioneers looked like they might have been thinking of repeating last year’s come-from-behind victory at Frankfort, when they won in five sets after losing the first two sets. The Pioneers had a 13-9 lead in Set #4, forcing Adena to take a timeout. Once again, that turned out well for the team taking the TO, as Adena rallied for a 17-15 advantage. But, that didn’t last long, as Zane Trace stormed back into a 21-19 lead. The Warriors rallied on a 4-0 run for a 23-21 lead. The Pioneers pulled to within 23-22, with Adena then completing a 2-0 run when Sydney Foglesong’s block ended Set #4 25-22 and provided the 3-1 match victory.

The (10-1/16-2) Warriors take a one match SVC lead over (9-2/14-4) Zane Trace with three SVC matches to play.

Adena was led by Sydney Foglesong’s 27 kills, 2 solo blocks and 4 assisted blocks, Hannah Burns added 18 kills, 2 solo blocks and 2 assisted blocks, Eva Kruger had 7 kills and Brinlee Preston 5 kills, 1 solo and 3 assisted blocks.
