Miami Trace Claims FAC Volleyball Championship with Sweep of Chillicothe

The Miami Trace Panthers are Frontier Athletic Conference Volleyball champs, sweeping runner-up Chillicothe 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-23), Tuesday at Miami Trace.

The Panthers win the title outright as they have a (9-0/15-4) league record as the Lady Cavs drop to (7-2) with only one FAC match to play. It is Miami Trace’s third FAC title in the last four years.

Gracey Ferguson of Miami Trace gained her 2,000th career setting assist earlier in the week vs Clinton Massie

The Panthers were ahead most of the first set, breaking open a 17-13 lead and cruising to a 25-16 win in Set #1. Miami Trace used a 10-2 run to win going away.

Set #2 saw the teams tied at 6-6, before the Panthers closed on a 19-7 run for a 25-13 win and a (2-0) match lead.

Set #3 was much tighter, with Chillicothe staying close the entire way. The Lady Cavs held a 19-16 advantage, but Miami Trace rallied to even the score at 22-22 and went on to win the Set 25-23 and the match 3-0.

For Miami Trace, Gracey Ferguson, who picked up her 2,000th career assist earlier in the week, had  36 set assists vs Chillicothe and 1 solo block. Addyson Butts led the front line with 17 kills and 1 ace serve. Courtney Carter had 8 kills and 4 ace serves. Sophia Parsons added 8 kills and 1 solo block.

Stats for Chillicothe are not yet available.

Miami Trace goes for the FAC Gold Volleyball vs Washington C H on Thursday.
